Put a Ring on These Austin Bachelorette Party Destinations

Put a Ring on These Austin Bachelorette Party Destinations

Are you getting ready for a trip down the aisle? Whether you’re the bride-to-be or an all-star maid of honor who’s planning the big-time bash, you want to throw the best bachelorette party ever. And there’s no need to book a flight to Vegas, either. Austin, Texas is a popular bachelorette party destination for both Texans and out-of-towners who are ready to say “I do.”

Whether you want a quiet weekend on the lake or a raucous time bar hopping, Austin bachelorette parties are a great way to celebrate upcoming nuptials. Austin is the Texas state capitol, though, so the options can be a little overwhelming. From karaoke bars and iconic music venues to rooftop bars and legendary Austin BBQ joints, here are some of our favorite picks for any Austin bachelorette party.

Bar Hop on Sixth Street

If you haven’t been to downtown Austin before, 6th Street is a rite of passage that you need to complete. This is essentially the party central of Austin. It’s chock full of some of the best bars and nightlife — all within walking distance of each other — so you can stay out until the wee hours of the morning. It’s perfect for bachelor parties, bachelorette party weekends, and lively getaways.

Midnight Cowboy is one of the hottest cocktail bars in the area. Since it’s more high-end, you’ll enjoy traditional craft cocktails with more of an upscale, bachelorette-worthy atmosphere. It’s reservation-only, though, so make sure you book your spot before you show up.

If you want more of a cheap dive bar experience, go to Casino El Camino. It’s famous for its ridiculous Bloody Marys (complete with chicken nuggets and corn dogs) and its monster-sized hamburgers if you want dinner and drinks all in one.

Best of all, there are plenty of hotels near Sixth Street, so you don’t have to worry about getting a designated driver or paying for a pricey Uber. Don’t forget to check out the city’s happy hour spots too!

Book the Brunch Bus

Austin bachelorette party: women in front of a tour bus

Are you and the girls nursing a hangover but want to keep the party going? Book an excursion on thee Twisted Texas Brunch Bus. This is great if you want a little hair of the dog to keep the party going after a night on the town.

For $109 a person, you get:

  • Live music on the bus

  • Prizes and trivia games

  • Brunch food at multiple stops, including tacos, kolaches, and chicken and waffles

  • Brunch drinks at every stop

  • BYOB for the bus (if you can’t wait for the next stop)

The Brunch Bus handles all of the driving for you, so you don’t have to worry about finding a designated driver. You’re free to indulge in mimosas, tacos, and live music without a care in the world.

Party at the Lake

Did you know that Austin is surrounded by several lakes? Lake Travis, Lake Austin, and Lady Bird Lake are just a few of the lakeside excursions that make for an unforgettable Austin bachelorette party.

If you want to party it up on the water, head over to the Devil’s Cove area of Lake Travis, which is famous for its party boat rentals. You can rent a pontoon yourself (if you know how to sail) or book a retro-inspired disco cruise. You’ll share the boat with other partygoers on the disco cruise, but it’s cheaper than renting a pontoon for just your girls — and you just might run into another bach party!

If that sounds like too much, book a beachside stay at Lady Bird Lake. You can kayak, paddleboard, or rent a boat to enjoy this quieter destination.

Wherever you decide to let your hair down, bring lots of water (and margaritas) to stay hydrated while you’re on the water. Oh, and don’t forget to coordinate matching swimsuits with the bridal party for unforgettable photo ops.

Sample Austin’s Food Trucks

Are you and your crew a bunch of foodies? Sure, Austin is home to some of the best restaurants in the state, but if you really want to indulge in everything Austin has to offer, get yourself to a food truck. With food trucks, you get a little bit of everything — and you can satisfy even the pickiest eaters in your Austin bachelorette party.

If you want to sample several food trucks in one go, check out ATX food truck parks like:

  • The Picnic: This retro-inspired food truck park is open from 11 AM to 9 PM most days. Grab Tex-Mex, Italian, Mexican, seafood, burgers, gumbo, empanadas, and more at Austin’s original food truck park.

  • Thicket: This South Austin food truck park is open from 9 AM to 9 PM, so it’s a great spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Grab a cup of coffee at Stellar, sample Puerto Rican food at the Plantain Bar, and enjoy a divine slice of cheesecake from Celia Jacob’s. Thicket also has a community garden, live events, and yoga.

  • Arbor Food Park: This food truck joint is a popular stop for lunch. Grab a personal pizza at Doughboys or grab a greasy burger at Burgerlicious. Arbor is also dog-friendly and allows BYOB.

Explore the Texas Hill Country

It technically isn’t Austin, but the Texas Hill Country is a short drive for Austinites and any Austin bachelorette party that wants to experience the charm of the Texas heartland. You can book an Airbnb in the Hill Country to avoid the traffic and noise of Austin. It also doesn’t hurt that many Hill Country lodgings are big enough to house an entire bachelorette party.

The Hill Country is more remote, but it isn’t so far from civilization that you can’t score a good bite of food or a glass of wine. The Hill Country is the perfect spot for touring breweries and wineries. Swing by Alstadt in Fredericksburg for an authentic beer garden experience. If you want to stay closer to Austin, check out the Dripping Wine Trail in Dripping Springs, where you can do several wine tastings.

Stay in a Downtown Austin Boutique Hotel

If you want to see Austin’s weirdness firsthand, stay in a boutique hotel within the city. There’s no need to book a boring Holiday Inn: the accommodations are part of the experience when you have an Austin bachelorette party. There are so many boutique hotels to choose from, but bachelorettes love these the most:

  • Hotel Van Zandt: Located just off Rainey Street in the downtown area, Hotel Van Zandt is famous for its rooftop pool.

  • South Congress Hotel: Complete with funky decor, the South Congress Hotel features three restaurants, two bars, and a coffee shop.

  • East Austin Hotel: This retro hotel is five blocks from downtown and includes a restaurant, bar, and courtyard pool with bar service.

Visit Banger’s Beer Garden

Are you more of a beer goddess than a wino? If so, take your Austin bachelorette party to Bangers, one of the most iconic beer gardens in Austin. This Austin beer garden is casual and fun, making for a carefree bachelorette weekend. Located on Rainey Street, Banger’s features live music, offers a wide variety of beers, and serves world-famous sausages. It has indoor and outdoor seating, so you can take the entire bachelorette gang for dinner before a night on the town.

Take a Dip at Barton Springs Pool

If you want to cool down in the summertime, check out Barton Springs Pool, Austin’s famous spring-fed swimming pool. Located across from the beautiful Zilker Park, Barton Springs is a fun (but alcohol-free) destination for any Austin bachelorette party that’s craving a little fun in the sun.

Snag the free weekend shuttle from the One Texas Center to Zilker Park and cross the street to get to Barton Springs Pool. The City of Austin changes admission fees depending on the season, but you can buy swim passes for $9 per person (for non-residents). We recommend buying passes ahead of time because slots fill up quickly in the summer.

Snag a Coffee and Hunt for Murals

Whether you’re a teetotaler or you just want daytime entertainment in Austin, this hipster city is famous for its art and coffee. So why not combine the two? Check out Jo’s Coffee, which is one of Austin’s famous coffee shops. Its South Congress location is home to the “I love you so much” mural, which is perfect for a bachelorette party selfie.

Plan the Austin Bachelorette Party of a Lifetime

Marriage is a big deal, so why not bookend your single life in style with these bachelorette party ideas? The destinations on this list will make for an unforgettable Austin bachelorette party. Every bride is different, though, so don’t be afraid to customize to your liking. At the end of the day, a bachelorette party is about having fun with the girls, so don’t be afraid to let your hair down.
